Midnight Sessions is officially back for its eighth season of performances showcasing La Frontera’s best original musicians. A six-episode collection of curated setlists await us, and for this season, our goal is to begin inviting a small audience to enjoy the studio experience with us.
Since Season 5, a subtitle has helped inspire tight-knit art direction for each season which has led to a more intentional approach each time around. Season 8 is no different.
ENTER VIUDA NEGRA.
Inspired by the eight legs of performances that we have experienced thus far. When thinking of a Black Widow, an eerily simple image comes to mind. When we first created Midnight Sessions, the emphasis lied heavily on intimacy. Simplicity. A connection from season 1 to season 8.
To properly introduce a small audience to the session, our emphasis returns to that quality of performance. Our focus is to create a lineup of musicians with intimate and soft discographies to represent the concept of Midnight Sessions for this 8th season. Giving the audience an opportunity to fully experience studio-quality sessions.
LOGISTICAL NOTES
Typically, each session would have it’s own booked date at the studio. but, To create a full experience for the audience, we aim to book two sessions on a single day. EACH SESSION OF THE DAY WOULD BE 4 HOURS, RESULTING IN AN 8-HOUR EVENT. A DOUBLE-HEADER SESSION IS NO LAUGHING MATTER. SO, TO PACE OUR SEASON, WE ARE AIMING TO FILM ONE OF THESE 2-IN-1 SESSIONS PER MONTH - MAKING THE SEASON A 3 MONTH PRODUCTION.
A very limited audience would be able to RSVP for the entire day session.
Leaving and entering the reserved studio would be permitted only during non-performance times. No other area within the studio WILL BE accessible - meaning to exit the session would also be exiting the studio. again, Re-entrance is permitted.
WE ALWAYS STRIVE FOR GOOD HOSPITALITY. ESPECIALLY WHEN INVITING GUESTS TO THE BEAUTIFUL STAR CITY RECORDING STUDIO. THROUGHOUT THE 8-HOUR EVENT, GUESTS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH FOOD AND DRINKS AS PART OF THEIR RSVP. THIS PROVIDES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTNER WITH OUR NEIGHBORS EN LA FRONTERA. we are proud to announce that deadbeach brewery will be the official beer for viuda negra. CURRENTLY, WE ARE SEEKING A FOOD PARTNER TO JOIN US IN THE PRODUCTION OF SEASON 8.
